Position: The Dietary Aide assembles, prepares and cleans items and equipment necessary for patient and employee food service. Must have Serve Safe Certification
Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED.
Duties:
1. Helps to prepare late trays, as needed.
2. Demonstrates knowledge/ability to break down stream table and store leftovers in appropriate containers after properly labeling and dating.
3. Keeps work area clean and in sanitary condition at all times.
4. Reports to work in clean and neat clothes.
5. Wash hands frequently throughout the day and before touching any food.
6. Leaves work area and equipment clean before going off duty.
7. Demonstrates ability to assure safe and efficient operation in performing his/her abilities.
8. Get needed food supplies from storeroom, freezer and refrigerator using appropriate body mechanics.
9. Obey safety rules and regulations of department and report any faulty equipment or unsafe conditions to Director and/or Supervisor.
10. Carry out instructions of Director and/or Supervisor and make necessary changes as directed by management.
11. Follows policies and procedures of hospital and department.
12. Attends departmental and hospital in-services, as indicated.
13. Completes special projects or other related work as requested or required.
14. Shows ability to work with others, adaptable to change and willingness to provide services in other areas of the hospital within the limits of skill and training.
15. Adapt to changing situations or work assignments.
16. Demonstrates willingness to rotate to other areas of hospital within the limits of preparation and skill level.
17. Conform to uniform and dress code, personal hygiene and good grooming.
18. Wear and properly display name badge.
19. Positively respond to guidance or counseling and attempts to benefit by it.
20. Adept in identifying potential problems within the department and seeks management guidance.
21. Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and originator of new ideas and methods.
22. Use verbal and non-verbal communication with others, i.e., courtesy, tone of voice, facial expressions, Gestures, etc.
23. Experience working in a medical environment or in customer service is preferred
24. Skilled in preparing food for a large group of people as instructed by kitchen management
25. Basic understanding of kitchen cookware and appliances
26. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are needed to successfully prepare large-scale catering orders
27. Ability to work on your feet and in the standing position for an extended period
28. Experience cooking various meals and following recipes
29. Flexibility in terms of availability, able to work holidays and weekend generally preferred
