Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with various activities to promote the Town of Brownsburg, including blogging, social media content, print, promotions, etc.
- Writes for the discoverbrownsburg.org blog site on a weekly basis; researches content, photographs, and seeks interviews as necessary.
- Assists with content creation for annual Discover Brownsburg magazine and quarterly Community Guide;
- Actively contributes ideas to reach new audiences and strengthen community engagement through digital and print content;
- Assist in the copywriting of social and website content;
- Creating social media content (including but not limited to Instagram reels, stories, etc.) to further storytelling and engagement on Town of Brownsburg social media accounts;
- Create weekly email marketing campaigns to promote fall events, programs, things to do in Brownsburg, and local business highlights;
- Assist in brainstorming and creating content plans;
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field;
- A general understanding of AP-style writing, preferred;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Experience with using social media platforms in a professional setting, including Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram;
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines;
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite;
- Basic knowledge of SEO best practices and terminology (content marketing, link building, technical audits, etc.);
- Knowledge of content management systems like WordPress;
- Basic knowledge of email marketing best practices;
- Proficiency using a DSLR camera;
- Ability to attend some events outside of work hours (nights and weekends).

This job operates primarily in a professional office environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. However, job duties will require one to operate in the general community with moderate safety/health hazard potential. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
