Professional Dog Groomer

Responsibilities and duties for Dog Groomer:

Dog Grooming & Bathing

· Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a task or project

· Provide an overall positive experience for the pets as they are being groomed or bathed, including compassion, gentleness, reassurance, safety, and comfort

· Provide personalized grooming and spa services for dogs checked in for lodging or as drop-offs

· Manage your own grooming schedule daily, ensuring it coordinates with Colby’s software. Promptly address any differences with the General Manager or front desk staff

· Use reference materials as needed to assist with grooming. Never return a dog to the client if it is not finished to the best of your ability

· Provide fresh, clean water to all grooming dogs

· Offer potty breaks to grooming dogs as needed

· Report all pup health concerns to the Pupcare or General Manager as soon as possible

(Human) Customer Service

· Meet and greet all grooming clients whenever possible to discuss grooming instructions after assessing the pup’s coat and condition

· Ensure client satisfaction by resolving any customer service issues with your capabilities. Involve the General Manager or any other manager on staff if you are not able to help the customer to their satisfaction

· Return all phone calls and emails in a timely manner

Cleaning & Organization

· Clean and maintain the grooming room, including floors, walls, tubs, grooming tables, mats, and windows at the direction of Grooming Manager and with approved chemicals and cleaning implements

· Assist with cleaning of other areas in the grooming salon as needed

· Provide proper grooming equipment and maintain and sharpen the equipment as necessary

Other

· Keep up with product inventory and inform Facility of all supplies that need ordering with sufficient time for the supplies to be ordered before they are depleted

· Pay attention to the smallest details of a task or project

· Attend monthly All Staff meetings

· Handle required paperwork (e.g. reservations, appointments, contracts, billing)

· Follow all company procedures

· Ensure daily tasks are completed on schedule and accurately

· Assist with other facility maintenance tasks and repairs as requested

· Ability to communicate effectively with others verbally and in writing

· Ability to follow the direction of supervisors and managers; demonstrates respect for authority

Education/Experience for Dog Groomer:

· Two to four years professional grooming experience preferred

· Strong knowledge of individual breed standards and breed cuts

· Proper scissoring techniques required

· Willingness to attend dog shows, trade shows, and conferences to increase grooming knowledge

· Comfort managing large pups

Computer Skills

· Basic, ability to use Paylocity software proficiently

· Basic Microsoft Online computer skills

· Understanding of Gingr software

Certificates & Licenses:

· PackPro Customer Service and Group Dog Body Language modules

· Professional Grooming School certification or College Degree preferred

Physical Requirements

Majority of time is spent standing, walking and bending. Must be able to:

· Physically manage and safely handle large dogs

· Lift 50-75 lbs

· Ability to physically manage and safely handle large pups

· Must be able to tolerate a wet and/or moist environment for up to 8 hours daily

· Flexible schedule, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays

· Frequent repetitive movement of wrists when scissoring
