Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive leader to oversee the Dry Van Division as a Manager and Load Booker/Dispatcher. This role is vital in coordinating freight operations, managing transportation planning, and ensuring seamless dispatching within our logistics network. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating exceptional communication, analysis skills, and a strong understanding of transportation management systems. Your leadership will drive efficiency, optimize freight movement, and uphold high standards of safety and service quality across the division.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily dry van freight operations, including dispatching, load booking, and fleet management to ensure timely deliveries.
- Coordinate with drivers, warehouse teams, and customers to plan routes using GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and GPS technology for optimal efficiency.
- Utilize transportation management systems .
- Oversee shipping & receiving processes, ensuring accurate data entry and documentation through TMS and other data management platforms.
- Communicate effectively with drivers via multi-line phone systems, maintaining professional phone etiquette while providing clear instructions and updates.
- Monitor freight movements using GPS and transportation planning tools to troubleshoot issues proactively and adjust plans as needed.
- Collaborate with 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) providers to coordinate shipments, resolve discrepancies, and enhance supply chain efficiency.
- Maintain comprehensive records of dispatch activities, freight status updates, and incident reports to support compliance and operational transparency.
- Conduct analysis of logistics data to identify opportunities for cost savings, service improvements, or process enhancements.
Skills
- Strong proficiency booking loads on DAT and securing a direct freight from shippers / customers .
- Extensive knowledge of supply chain logistics, transportation planning, shipping & receiving procedures, and fleet management principles.
- Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets for decision-making purposes.
- Proven dispatching experience with familiarity in freight coordination across multiple carriers or 3PL providers.
- Exceptional communication skills paired with professional phone etiquette for effective internal and external stakeholder engagement.
- Adept at data entry.
- Experience working with multi-line phone systems in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy under pressure.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems , equivalent platforms used in logistics operations. Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
