Market Development Manager


Support the ABB E-Mobility Ireland business by implementing Service technical strategy and drive Service growth locally at the respective local unit level by supporting the business function. Enable the EV Service business by technically supporting the install base of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure (EVCI) and work with Operations and Channel Managers to optimise the costs and profitability of the E-Mobility department. Help achieve its performance targets and ensure utilization of service resources. Collaborate with Channel Partners, Clients and global staff in delivery of service function.

The role is hybrid but occasional travel is required to manage the field staff, HSE, ABB facility, customers, site and the Netherlands/Italy for occasional HQ and factory engagement.

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.


  • Works with Service technical strategy - Drives implementation of the Service technical function. Ensures corresponding plans are implemented consistently in the Service function. Ensuring KPIs are met within service function including Uptime, service Response times and case closures targets. Monitors performance targets as part of the global (or) local unit and Customer Service Level Agreements

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to, hardware, software, and connectivity for ABB AC and DC Charging Infrastructure and provides timely and effective technical support to customers via phone, email, and remote access tools.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including product management, channel partners and field engineers to resolve complex technical issues. Ensures parts and logistics are managed to support service delivery.

  • Supports Operations Manager eMobility and Channel Manager in execution of business functions. Co-ordinating with global team, local service partners and technicians. Achieving project deliverables and compliance with contractual requirements.

  • Facilitates on-site support and maintenance activities. Completing site visits where necessary. Participate in training sessions and workshops to stay updated on products, features, and technical advancements.

  • Service technical delivery – Key point of contact between global team and local business for service activity. Scheduling of commissioning, maintenance and diagnostic/repair/campaign work to ensure Service productivity with Operations Manager.

  • Document support interactions, including customer inquiries, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the Service System. Manages caseload to ensure correct operation of warranty processes.

  • Support Channel Partners - Ensures they properly organised, staffed, skilled and trained. Improves service availability, provides training and develops their capabilities and competencies including ECAP certification.

  • Health, safety & integrity - Is responsible for health and safety of the local Business Unit/Product Group Service function. Enforces a Service safety and integrity culture throughout the Service organization. Health, Safety & Environment along with RAMS documentation (HSE).

Qualifications for the Role

  • Qualifications in an electrical discipline.

  • Technical understanding of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure including AC and DC charging protocols, charging connectors, and communication protocols (e.g., OCPP).

  • Background in Field Service (Desirable)

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues. Have a problem solving mindset. Ability to critically evaluate situations and present and implement solutions.

  • Proactive communication skills, with the ability to receive and convey technical information clearly and concisely.

  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in a results-driven environment. Ability to work within various teams but also to operate under own initiative as required.

  • Strong interest in developing technology, sustainability and Electric Vehicles.
