About the opportunity
The Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) is Australia's anti-money laundering regulator and specialist financial intelligence unit. In our regulatory role AUSTRAC oversees compliance with the requirements of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act).
We are seeking high-performing professionals to join our team within the Office of the CEO, including Directors Media and Internal Communications and Directors, Executive and Ministerial.
The Director, Media and Internal Communications will lead a team of media and internal communications specialists, providing advice and services across media, internal and corporate communications for the agency.
The position of Director, Executive and Ministerial reports directly to the Chief of Staff/National Manager Reform Design and will be responsible for leading the Executive and Ministerial Section and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the CEO's office, providing strategic and operational support to the Chief of Staff and the Senior Executive, with a strong focus on executive coordination, ministerial and parliamentary engagement, and whole of agency clearance prioritisation.

Key Duties
The Director, Media and Internal Communications is responsible for:
- Leading a team to develop and deliver media, internal and corporate communications strategies that promote the work of AUSTRAC and support the agencies priorities.
- Providing high level, proactive advice to the AUSTRAC CEO and Executive on complex and emerging media issues and working closely with the Executive and Ministerial team on media matters requiring ministerial coordination.
- Coordinating AUSTRAC's participation in media and communications-related events, including launches, campaigns and senior executive engagements.
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, partner agencies and service providers, and driving practical improvements to how the team plans, delivers and measures its work.
The Director, Executive and Ministerial is responsible for:
- Providing support for the Chief of Staff and the Office of the CEO.
- Leading the development and coordination of CEO briefings for external engagements, agency head level meetings and industry interactions.
- Leading the Executive and Ministerial team to effectively deliver the agencies parliamentary obligations and ensure AUSTRAC representations are accurate, consistent and reflect agency position.
- Leading the budget and resource management for the section, and contribute to budget and resource management at the branch level.
To be eligible for this role you:
- Must be an Australian citizen at the time you apply.
- Will need to undertake AUSTRAC’s pre-engagement checks.
- Will need to obtain and maintain an ongoing Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance
