About the Role
The Engineering & Compliance Manager will work with Hotels across the group in a pivotal technical and governance role alongside EVT’s Engineering & Facilities Management team. In this role, you will oversee statutory and essential services compliance across our diverse hotel portfolio while providing expert technical guidance to support day to day operations. You’ll interpret complex engineering and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable direction for hotel teams, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant environments for guests and staff. Success in this position will be driven by your proactive approach to risk management, your ability to close out compliance actions promptly, your commitment to building engineering capability within hotel teams, and your strong collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing statutory compliance, essential services, and building services within a multi site or complex operational environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of essential safety measures, building systems, preventative maintenance, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven capability in conducting audits, interpreting engineering documentation, and resolving technical and compliance related issues.
  • Experience in asset management, lifecycle planning, CAPEX development, and evaluating service contracts and contractor performance.
  • Well developed communication, stakeholder management, and coaching skills, with the ability to influence and uplift capability across engineering teams.
  • High level of analytical, problem solving, and reporting capability, including proficiency with asset management platforms and engineering compliance systems.
Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure statutory and essential services compliance across all EVT hotels, maintaining alignment with legislative obligations and internal standards.
  • Identify and address compliance gaps by partnering with Senior Engineering & Compliance leadership, Hotel GMs, and Chief Engineers to drive timely corrective actions.
  • Oversee the preparation, certification, and on time lodgement of Essential Services Compliance Statements (or equivalents) across all jurisdictions.
  • Conduct desktop and on site compliance audits, engineering inspections, and technical reviews, including required travel across the hotel portfolio.
  • Maintain, review, and enhance compliance procedures, checklists, systems, and documentation to reflect regulatory updates and industry best practice.
  • Provide technical guidance to hotel engineering teams on essential services, building systems, preventative maintenance, and engineering risk management.
  • Support asset management and CAPEX planning through lifecycle analysis, feasibility assessments, condition reviews, and maintenance program evaluation.
  • Build engineering team capability through coaching, mentoring, onboarding support, and fostering a strong culture of compliance, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and support consultant and contractor engagement, ensuring alignment with EVT requirements for safety, quality, reporting, and statutory documentation.
  • Contribute to EVT’s sustainability objectives by promoting responsible asset lifecycle decisions, energy efficient practices, and environmentally sound engineering methodologies.
