Their team is a tightknit bunch of down-to-earth individuals who look for ways to relentlessly improve on everything they do, every day.

About the role

The role will support both Australian and Canadian finance operations, with a balanced focus on Canadian Accounts Payable and Australian month-end financial accounting. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial processing, timely reconciliations, and clear communication across multiple time zones.

This position requires a reliable and proactive professional who can manage transactional tasks while taking ownership of month-end activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Australian and Canadian Finance Managers and will have opportunities for growth by taking on additional responsibilities over time.

Responsibilities:

  • Process approximately 200–300 invoices per month, including accurate coding, validation, and ensuring invoices are appropriately approved.

  • Manage weekly Accounts Payable runs and ensure all payments are completed accurately and on time.

  • Perform bank reconciliations to ensure balances are accurate and discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.

  • Support the month-end close process, including preparation of journals, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Manage clearing and intercompany accounts across Australian and Canadian entities.

  • Maintain accurate Excel-based workpapers and reconciliation files.

  • Provide audit support by preparing schedules and tax return preparation.

  • Communicate daily task status, priorities, and completion updates to stakeholders.

  • Proactively flag issues, delays, or uncertainties and seek clarification when required.

  • Maintain consistent working hours and provide advance notice of any changes in availability.

  • Support ad hoc finance tasks when capacity allows, including assisting with data analysis, reporting, or process improvements during mid-month periods.

Requirements:

  • At least two (2) years of experience in a financial accounting or similar accounting role, with exposure to both AP and month-end activities.

  • Proven experience managing Accounts Payable processes, including high-volume invoice processing and weekly payment runs.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and journal postings accurately.

  • Experience working in a multi-entity or group structure, including intercompany transactions.

  • Working knowledge of Australian accounting practices, with the ability to apply accounting principles accurately.

  • Proficiency in using Accounts Payable systems such as Lightyear, NetSuite, Microsoft Excel, or a similar system.

  • Strong Excel skills, including preparation of reconciliations, workpapers, and supporting schedules.

  • Ability to work effectively across Australian and Canadian time zones with at least partial daily overlap.

  • Highly proactive communicator who provides regular status updates, clearly flags issues or delays, and ask questions when needed.

  • Strong organisational skills with a high level of reliability, accountability, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines consistently.

  • A growth mindset with willingness to take on additional responsibilities and develop new skills over time.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Power BI or data and reporting tools.

  • Retail industry experience.

  • Preferably CPA (Certified Public Accountant).

Benefits (Inclusive in the given salary range):

  • $50 Internet Allowance

  • $50 HMO allowance

  • 20 days Paid Time Off
