Garden Machinery Sales Assistant

Atkins is a long established and leading player in both the farm and garden machinery sectors in Ireland. From our headquarters at Carrigrohane road we operate a busy garden machinery business. Our portfolio, encompassing both domestic and professional equipment, is broad and we represent some of the most popular brands in the industry including Husqvarna, Kubota, Honda, Echo and Briggs & Stratton among others. To support the continued growth of the business we are seeking to add an additional showroom-based resource who will be engaged primarily with machinery sales but will also support the service and spare parts departments.

Job Purpose

The sale of garden machinery and provide additional cover at the service and parts counters.

Key Responsibilities

- Sales of the company’s portfolio of garden machinery to customers in store, over the phone and through digital channels;

- In house contact for the road-based Kubota salesperson and the garden machinery shops at the company’s Bandon & Fermoy branches;

- Ensure replenishment and attractive display of machinery in the shop and yard;

- Other sales department supporting roles including putting away deliveries from suppliers, preparing machinery pallets for dispatch by haulier, assembly, delivery to and installation of machinery with customers, etc.

- Set up of and attendance at shows;

- Cover for the workshop receptionist at the service desk – book in/out machinery, allocate jobs, schedule deliveries/collections;

- Assist the parts counter serving customers at busy times, covering staff breaks and providing weekend cover.

Personal Characteristics Sought

- Customer service skills;

- An ability to multitask and remain calm under seasonal workload pressures;

- An interest in machinery / engines;

- Weekend availability, Tuesday to Saturday being the standard working week for this role.

Experience & Qualifications Required

- Completed second level education;

- At least 2 – 5 years work experience including experience of:

i) the sale of, service of or use of machinery (e.g. landscaping);

ii) a customer facing role;

- Fluent spoken and written English;

- Competent PC skills;

- Full clean driving license.

Remuneration : €16.00 – €18.00/hr.

Schedule : Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 – 17:30

Overtime : On occasion, paid at time and a half

Commission : Yes, profit based
