General Internal Medicine Physician Locum Position In Greater Vancouver

Job Overview

We are seeking a General Internal Medicine physician for a locum position (1 day per week to start, with potential for additional days) in a busy community-based Internal Medicine practice in Coquitlam, BC.

The role is focused on in-person cardiac referrals, including assessment of common cardiometabolic conditions and supervision and interpretation of exercise stress tests. This is an ideal opportunity for a GIM physician comfortable with seeing outpatient cardiac referrals within a General Internal Medicine scope.

Duties

• Assess and manage adult patients referred for cardiac evaluation in a community setting
• Evaluate symptoms such as chest pain, dyspnea, palpitations, and cardiovascular risk factors
• Perform and interpret exercise tolerance tests (ETT)
• Provide risk stratification and management plans for cardiometabolic conditions
• Generate clear consult notes and recommendations for referring providers
• Collaborate with local specialists and primary care physicians as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation using EMR systems

Schedule

• 1 day per week initially (8 hour clinic day)
• Opportunity to increase to additional days based on mutual interest and clinic needs

Qualifications

• MD with full licensure to practice in British Columbia (CPSBC)
• Certification in Internal Medicine (FRCPC)
• Experience with exercise stress testing, including interpretation, is required
• Comfortable managing outpatient cardiac referrals independently
• Strong clinical judgment and efficiency in a consult-based practice
• Experience with EMR systems is an asset
