About the Role
As Group Legal Counsel at BDR Thermea Group, you will be an integral part of our Global Legal team, reporting into Elke (our Legal Director) and working closely alongside Eline (Senior Legal Counsel).This is a hands-on, high-impact role in which you will support the organisation with a broad legal inhouse scope in general and across 4 pillars more specifically: procurement contracting, treasury, privacy and trade compliance. You will be trusted to work independently, engage proactively with internal stakeholders, and bring the kind of commercial and risk-aware mindset that keeps a complex international business moving forward.
In this role, you will own the legal support for our procurement organisation. You will lead the development and implementation of a new contract policy and fit for purpose contract templates, and provide coaching and training to empower our procurement colleagues in their contracting activities.
This is a hybrid role, based out of Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. You are invited to work on-site at the office for a minimum of two day per week. We support your home office set-up, travel costs, and provide flexibility regarding hybrid work.
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead the legal workstream for procurement: develop and implement a group-wide contract policy and new standard contract templates, provide contract reviews, and coach procurement teams to build their own contracting capabilities, reducing dependency on legal over time.
Act as the first point of legal contact for our Treasury department.
Support the implementation of the Trade Compliance Policy
Design and deliver legal training programmes for internal stakeholders across procurement and trade compliance topics, building awareness and capability throughout the organisation.
Engage as a proactive legal business partner: advise on risk, exercise sound legal judgement on day-to-day matters, and contribute to ad hoc projects across the Group Legal team as the business evolves.
What You Bring
A master’s degree in law
At least 5 years of relevant legal experience
Proven experience in commercial contracting: you are comfortable reviewing and negotiating complex commercial agreements, identifying risk, and advising stakeholders in plain language.
Strong stakeholder management skills and a proactive, teaching-oriented approach: you do not just provide answers, you build others’ capability to find them.
Full professional proficiency in English
Nice to Have
Familiarity with trade compliance topics
Experience and/or affinity with GDPR implementation (privacy framework) in an international (EU) environment
Exposure to M&A or treasury-related legal work
