About the Role

As a Healthcare Assistant in the Woman, Child, and Family department at Rotorua Hospital under Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, your role is central to ensuring the comfort, safety and well-being of women, pēpi (babies) and their whānau throughout their maternity, SCBU and childrens Unit journey. You work as part of a multi-disciplinary team under the guidance of registered nurses and midwives, assisting with both clinical and non-clinical duties that help the unit run smoothly. This includes supporting personal care such as mobility, hygiene and feeding, helping with baby care and maternal comfort needs, and responding promptly to patient calls while maintaining a calm, supportive environment. You also contribute to maintaining a safe, clean and well-stocked ward, communicate effectively with staff and whānau, and ensure that patients and families feel respected and supported in a culturally appropriate, whānau-centred setting. Your contributions help free up nursing staff to focus on more specialised tasks, enabling high-quality, compassionate care for mothers, infants and families.

About the Team/Service/ Location

We have a large team of multidisaplinary staff The WCF area covers the Maternity, postnatal, SCBU and childrens unit.
