About the role:
- Ensure that safe working practices are adhered to at all times, including wearing PPE as appropriate.
- Acquire knowledge of Health & Safety procedures, work instructions, and associated documentation.
- Comply with all Health & Safety Policies and instructions and actively contribute Company efforts to promote safe behavior and safe systems of work.
- Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced.
- Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards.
- Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
- Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation.
- Prepare Environmental health and safety strategies and develop internal policy.
- Lead in-house training with managers and employees about Environmental health and safety issues and risks.
- Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
- Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers.
- Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Environmental Health and Safety legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry.
- Update, maintain and create EHS KPI’s, ensuring all EH&S KPI’s are achieved and improvements or opportunities identified are recorded and actioned.
- Liaise with maintenance department on the selection, induction and control of external contractors on site.
- Produce management reports, statistics to enable annual SMART targets for the site.
- Ensure equipment is installed safely and maintained to a safe standard.
- Manage and Organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos etc.
- Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Will include participating in special projects as identified.
Education & Experience:
- BSc in Environmental Health / Relevant Qualification
- Strong communication skills
- 2+ years in a manufacturing / pharma work environment
- Full clean Irish driving license
- Excellent communicator
- Effective, clear and positive delivery on H&S across the site
- Be present and support the SLT on all H&S aspects
- Ensuring all site H&S related cases are closed out in a mannerly time frame
- Support, educate and maintain a positive H&S culture onsite
- Assist with audits, both internal and external
