Hotel Assistant Manager

The Assistant Hotel Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing daily operations of a full-service hotel. This role ensures exceptional guest satisfaction, efficient departmental coordination, and adherence to brand standards and financial goals. The Assistant Manager serves as a role model for service excellence and leads by example in all front- and back-of-house functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guest Relations & Service
  • Greet, assist, and respond to guest inquiries or complaints in a timely, professional manner
  • Monitor guest satisfaction metrics and implement improvement plans
  • Oversee VIP arrivals, special requests, and personalized guest programs
  • Operational Oversight
  • Coordinate daily activities across Front Desk, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards, safety regulations, and licensing laws
  • Conduct regular property inspections to maintain quality, cleanliness, and functionality
  • Staff Leadership & Development
  • Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate departmental supervisors and associates
  • Create staff schedules to optimize coverage and control labor costs
  • Lead team meetings, performance reviews, and recognition programs
  • Financial & Administrative Management
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and P&L analysis for multiple departments
  • Monitor revenue streams (rooms, F&B, banquets) and identify upsell opportunities
  • Review daily financial reports, approve expenditures, and implement cost-control measures
  • Event & Banquet Coordination
  • Support sales and events team with planning and execution of meetings, conferences, and weddings
  • Ensure banquet set-ups, menu execution, and service meet client expectations
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain emergency procedures and conduct staff safety drills
  • Enforce health, sanitation, and security protocols

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
  • Experience:
  • 3–5 years in hotel operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role at a full-service property
  • Proven track record in guest-focused service and team leadership
  • Skills & Certifications:
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Proficiency with hotel PMS (e.g., Opera, Fosse, or OnQ) and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of revenue management principles and budgeting
  • Food safety and alcohol service certifications (if overseeing F&B outlets)

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Fast-paced hotel environment with frequent guest interaction
  • Regular walking, standing, and occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs)
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
