We are seeking a talented and motivated High Performance Computing (HPC) Applications Services Officer to join our team. The HPC Applications Services Officer possesses experience in software development on Linux- or UNIX-based HPC systems with a focus on application performance analysis, debugging, and optimisation.
The successful candidate will require knowledge of HPC software engineering tools and practices and experience in tuning, optimisation, and debugging of applications, libraries, and supporting software engineering tools. Candidates are expected to demonstrate strong understanding of the components that comprise an HPC environment, including operating systems, compilers, APIs and associated tools. The role requires extensive knowledge and experience with FORTAN, C/C++, and Python languages. Experience with MPI and OpenMP APIs, Intel VTune, CrayPat, and Forge application profiling and debugging tools is an advantage.
Under direction of the HPC Services Manager and HPC Capability Lead, this role will respond to requests for support from software developers to debug application issues, as well as provide guidance for optimisation and effective utilisation of the Bureau’s HPC resources. This role will also engage with vendor support to report defects and solicit advice regarding best known methods for optimum performance and utilisation of the HPC assets utilised by the Bureau of Meteorology.
The HPC Services team is based at Head Office in the Melbourne CBD. Candidates based near other Bureau office locations in Australia will be considered for the role.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency.
This position will work Monday to Friday during business hours and will report to the HPC Services Manager.
