ROLE
The Indirect Tax Intern will support the company’s indirect tax compliance, reporting, and research processes. This role provides hands-on exposure to sales & use tax, VAT/GST, property tax, and other transaction-based taxes. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working with data and tax systems in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Indirect Tax Compliance
- Assist with preparation and filing of sales and use tax, excise tax, gross receipts tax, and other indirect tax returns
- Gather and analyze transactional data to support monthly and quarterly filings
- Support review of tax notices, assessments, and refund claims
Data & Systems Support
- Reconcile tax-related accounts and validate data extracted from ERP systems
- Assist in maintaining tax rate tables and exemption certificate management systems
- Support testing of system configurations, including tax logic updates and enhancements
Research & Analysis
- Conduct basic indirect tax research using tax tools and state/local guidance
- Summarize regulatory changes and support documentation for audits or inquiries
- Assist in analyzing new business initiatives for potential indirect tax impact
Audit Support
- Collect and organize documentation for internal and external audits
- Assist in preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor requests
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with accounting, procurement, legal, and operations teams to support tax-related inquiries

Education and/or Experience
- Pursuing a bachelor’s in accounting, Finance, Taxation, Economics, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas)
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Skills and Abilities
- Coursework in tax or business law
- Interest in pursuing a career in tax, accounting, or finance
