About the role
We are now recruiting for an Associate to join our Employment team in Christchurch.
Working alongside AJ Lodge, you will be part of a nationally recognised practice advising on complex and often sensitive workplace issues. This role offers exposure to high-quality employment law work, including contentious matters, investigations, and strategic advisory, with direct client contact and early responsibility.
You will work closely with the team on a broad range of matters, while also developing your own practice within a supportive, high-performing team that is known for its pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
What you will bring
Successful candidates will have at least 4 - 6 years’ post-qualification experience with a background in employment law, litigation, or a closely aligned advisory practice.
You will be commercially minded and confident engaging directly with clients, with the ability to navigate complex and often sensitive workplace issues with sound judgement. Strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build trust quickly with clients across a range of industries and organisational levels.
You will bring excellent analytical capability and attention to detail, alongside a practical, solutions-focused approach to legal issues. Experience in disputes, investigations, or advisory work involving people, governance, or organisational change will be highly regarded.
