The Position

2025 Summer Intern - Discovery Oncology

Department Summary

Different groups in the Discovery Oncology Department work on identifying critical proteins and pathways important for controlling tumor cell growth and death. In addition we work on establishing potential therapeutics that activate or inhibit these pathways in cancer cells. We also investigate molecular mechanisms which regulate sensitivity and resistance to targeted agents to understand drug response in the context of heterogeneity of cancer cells and patients.

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, onsite

The Opportunity

This lab works on Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADCs) as a modality of targeted therapy for different types of cancers. We focus mainly on breast cancer and certain hematologic malignancies. We are looking for an individual with strong cell biology and biochemistry skills to participate in one of our ADC programs. The individual will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining and expanding cell lines for use in in vitro assays

  • Assessing expression of cell surface targets on cancer cells

  • Measuring binding of ADCs to specific targets on cancer cells

  • Testing different ADCs and small molecule compounds in cell proliferation and apoptosis assays

  • Participating in lab and team meetings to share data

Program Highlights
