ABOUT THE TEAM
Capital Markets Alternatives sits within PSP’s Capital Markets group and invests in hedge fund strategies with external managers and via direct and co-investment partnerships within internal opportunistic teams. The Capital Markets Alternatives team seeks to provide a complementary source of less correlated alpha strategies to the Total Fund over the long term.
ABOUT YOUR ROLE As an Intern, Capital Markets Alternatives, you’ll:

• Support the team with special projects and assist in portfolio analytics
• Do financial modelling and risk analyses on multiple vectors including understanding the impact of various hedging strategies and new investments
• Operate, build and maintain additional portfolio management tools
• Provide support to the team to enable efficient decision-making and execution of transactions

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• Enrolled in a Bachelor or Master program, ideally with a concentration in finance and/or a quantitative field (financial engineering, statistics, economics etc.)
• High level of proficiency with MS Office (particularly Excel) and programming experience (any of Python, R, etc.)
• Effective communications skills, both written and spoken
• Ability to navigate a fast-pace environment with a high level of autonomy
• Attention to detail and rigorous approach to research, analysis and documentation
• Demonstrated initiative and curiosity to look beyond surface facts and conduct comprehensive, fact-based, value-added research
• Eagerness to learn, ideate and innovate
• Experience in financial modeling and financial analysis (knowledge of Bloomberg and other investment software), an asset
• Pursuing a CFA designation, an asset
• Must return to studies after the internship or the internship must be part of your curriculum
• Good communications skills in English and French (or willingness to learn) (regular interactions in English with investment partners based outside of Quebec Example: peers, bankers, brokerage firms, etc. and PSP employees in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)
