Qualifications
The SBA is currently seeking an Intern in Investment Policy & Asset Allocation (IPAA) starting Fall 2026. The successful candidate will The IPAA intern will be an integral member of the team, assisting with real-world assignments that support the decision-making processes and daily operations of the asset allocation and investment policy functions.
What you will do:
- Support IPAA staff in the management, monitoring, and analysis of plan-level funds, inclusive of activities like asset allocation research and implementation, liquidity management, portfolio overlays, rebalancing, tactical tilts, investment policy formulation, benchmarking, and risk management
- Help prepare periodic and ad hoc reports, presentations, and meeting materials for senior staff, oversight committees, and external stakeholders
- Conduct basic research and analysis relating to emerging topics and trends in capital markets and macroeconomics
- Participate in special projects as assigned, such as gathering data for asset allocation reviews, liquidity monitoring, or risk analysis
- Shadow staff during meetings and collaborative workstreams to gain exposure to investment policy formation, performance monitoring, and risk assessment, etc.
- Perform administrative and organizational tasks to support the team’s workflow
- Assist with data entry, maintenance, and oversight of investment-related information in the department’s systems and databases
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university
- A junior, senior or graduate student
- Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Financial Mathematics, Economics or Computer Science. Other relevant degrees will be considered
- An overall GPA of at least 3.0
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Programming skills, specifically C-sharp, JAVA and VBA
- Strong data analytics skills
- Extensive Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to perform at a high level in a team oriented environment
- Ability to work independently and prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Hiring Rate: $18/hour
Internships are part-time ( 20 hours per week)
