We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Audit Officer to join our dynamic team in Tauranga City. You will be responsible for examining financial statements to ensure they provide a true and fair view of financial performance and position. Additionally, you will review operational and managerial processes to ensure financial and operational integrity and compliance is maintained, making recommendations for improvements where necessary.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for delivering statutory audits, due diligence, and special purpose audits, all in line with established processes and standards. You will lead audit engagements, manage junior team members, and develop strong client relationships while ensuring compliance with regulatory and technical requirements.
About the Role

You'll be central to building a smarter, sharper approach to compliance backed by great leadership and a tight-knit team.
This role is working out of our Tauranga office, 8.30am – 5.00pm, maximum of 40 hrs per week, Monday – Friday. The salary range for this role is between $80,000 - $110,000
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting full statutory audits in compliance with the Companies Act
- Performing business process reviews, risk assessments and due diligence engagements
- Examine financial statements to determine their accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Allocating and supervising audit work within your team, developing deliverables and reporting progress against outcomes
- Examines and verifies reports on financial, operational and managerial processes
- Meeting client deadlines, evaluating systems and outcomes to ensure financial and operational integrity and compliance, and maintaining strong relationships
- Staying up to date with changes in policies and procedures
- Review and evaluate accounting systems and control procedures.
Experience
We are looking for someone who is experienced, has strong commercial acumen and looking for career growth with:
- 4+ years of accounting experience within a professional services firm.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Strong understanding of audit methodology and accounting standards.
- Strong technical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build client relationships and lead a team
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to develop your technology skills
