What You’ll Do

Global Networks & Technology - Network & Infrastructure Engineering designs and delivers Telstra's network and infrastructure solutions, ensuring they're reliable, scalable, and secure.

Responsibilities of the role

  • Undertake analysis, research, modelling, forecasting & diagnosis to identify patterns, trends or issues that may need a response

  • Interpret data/outcomes to highlight business problems, risks and opportunities. Make recommendations for consideration in the formulation of tactical and operational plans and initiatives

  • Co-ordinate post-implementation reviews of projects or plans, and analyse their impact on the achievement of the groups KPIs.

  • Communicate findings and make recommendations to project managers or business leaders

  • Develop and undertake or contribute to research projects

Network Leadership Program

  • Assist in the production of high quality feasibility analysis and business cases to support business opportunities identified in Telstra’s International Network Leadership program and ensure that key stakeholders are suitably briefed throughout the approval process.

  • Assist in the development and production of Telstra’s international network strategy and growth plan

Costs

  • Assist in the evaluation and identification of cost savings and optimisation that will allow Telstra to meet and exceed its current and future financial targets.

Procurement and rollout

  • Contribute to the assessment of impacts of strategic technology decisions on the overall network efficiency and profile of costs over time;

  • Help formulate recommendations on network capital investment needed to satisfy product targets and other corporate initiatives, ensuring optimal utilisation of capital and existing network infrastructure.

About You

Skills and Experience

  • Expertise in building compelling, data driven business cases for technology, digital infrastructure, and AI initiatives, including detailed financial analysis, risk assessment, and scenario planning

  • Hands on experience in translating emerging tech trends (e.g., generative AI, advanced analytics, automation) into prioritised project pipelines and scalable solutions

  • Ability to bridge the gap between technical teams (e.g., engineering, facilities, and planning) and business functions, ensuring roadmaps are both strategic but executable

  • Experience as a senior Network Engineer in optical networks / optical line system build

  • Familiarity with subsea cable design and construction a plus

  • Experience with setting AI roadmaps and investment prioritisation a plus

  • Experience with senior stakeholder communication
