International Payroll Specialist

The Opportunity:

Executes operational payroll objectives set by payroll management. Assumes full responsibility for the processing of trial and final payroll outputs. Ensures accurate month end reporting and submission of all statutory filings, tax returns, and statutory reports required by local authorities. Contributes to the introduction of new payroll processes, systems, or standards. Collaborates with internal teams across various departments and may engage with external parties, such as vendors or local authorities, to support seamless and compliant payroll operations.

Avantor is seeking an International Payroll Specialist for a 12 month fixed term assignment to support our Global Payroll team in delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll operations across European countries. This role combines day to day payroll activities with involvement in global transformation initiatives. The role is fully remote .


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage end to end payroll processing for assigned European countries in collaboration with external payroll vendors (e.g., ADP, Safeguard).
  • Review payroll outputs including gross to net reports, variance checks, payment files, and statutory submissions.
  • Ensure accuracy of employee data across payroll systems and Workday; support corrections and data uploads when needed.
  • Assist with payroll related data migration (master data, YTD, fixed pay components) and collaborate with HRIS on system changes.
  • Participate in payroll testing activities such as data validation, parallel testing, and GL testing.
  • Maintain payroll documentation, workflows, and process guidelines.
  • Provide support to employees, HR teams, managers, and external stakeholders regarding payroll topics.
  • Escalate risks, issues, and data inconsistencies and support resolution.
  • Contribute to training and communication during process or system changes.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 3–4 years of experience in European payroll operations.
  • Experience working with external payroll vendors (preferably ADP or Safeguard).
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large datasets.
  • Advanced Excel skills and high attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment.

Nice to Have:
  • Experience with Workday and/or PECI integrations.
  • Experience in payroll migrations or system implementations.
  • Additional European languages.
  • Payroll certifications.
