At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens, we have over 110 kindergartens across the regions we serve, bringing learning, connection, and fun to families across Whanganui, Central Plateau, Manawatu, Horowhenua, Kāpiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also provide a home-based service - Etu Ao in Porirua and Levin.
Our vision for He Whānau Manaaki o Tararua is derived from our belief in the importance of quality early childhood education for the children themselves, their whānau, their community and for Aotearoa New Zealand. Therefore, we seek to be a leader in the provision of high-quality early childhood education, and by demonstrating what can be achieved, be seen as advocates for children and whānau and help to improve quality early childhood education throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.

More than 6,000 children now attend one of Whānau Manaaki's kindergartens and around 150 children are enrolled with our Pasifika-focused Etu Ao homebased service.
Community Description
Island Bay Kindergarten is nestled in a thriving south Wellington village. The community is very supportive of the kindergarten, and we have great parent support and engagement in all our activities. We are located next to Island Bay School with whom we have a strong relationship. We are licensed for 60 children who attend 6 hours each day. You will join our team of one Senior Head Teacher, an Assistant head teacher, 4 full-time teachers and a 0.5 Teacher.
This is a fixed term fulltime teacher positon worked Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.30pm. The reason for this fixed term is cover leave at this Kindergarten.
This fixed commences asap and will finish on 26 June 2026.
