About the Role
The Junior Corporate Counsel will serve as a key legal advisor by providing support to our legal department in various areas of law, including but not limited to contracts, compliance, corporate housekeeping, labor matters, litigation and strategic business initiatives/projects. .
Work hours: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm PH time
Work set-up: Hybrid (predominantly remote, with once a week onsite either in our Mandaluyong or Makati offices or more if needed)
What you’ll do
Assist in managing complex contract negotiations with clients, vendors, and partners.
Support the legal department in ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Lead in Company initiated business activities and corporate initiatives/projects.
Assist in the preparation of legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence related to litigation and dispute resolution matters.
Handle labor, civil, & criminal litigation matters, including responding to and managing customer, supplier, and third-party disputes.
Assist in developing and implementing legal strategies that align with business objectives.
Assist in managing corporate compliance programs and represent the company in legal proceedings.
Assist in preparing and improving special contracts such as management contracts, joint venture agreements, service agreements, and other such contracts which may require special knowledge, research and preparation.
Conduct research on unique legal issues impacting the Company by identifying applicable statutes, judicial decisions and codes.
Remaining up to date with regard to legislative changes that may affect the Company and its affiliates.
And such other facets of legal practice relevant to the business operations of the Company.
What You Bring
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a reputable law school.
Licensed Attorney with active bar membership in the Philippines
Minimum of 2 years post-bar practice experience, preferably in a corporate legal department or law firm.
1-3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a corporate legal department or law firm.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate legal concepts effectively to non-legal stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
In-house legal department experience at an outsourcing company is preferred.
Experience in negotiating service contracts, such as outsourcing agreements, vendor contracts, lease contracts etc.
Ability to train non-legal staff on corporate legal/contract policies.
