Summary
  • This position is responsible for providing health care services in the outpatient and inpatient clinical settings, within scope of education and experience. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and customer service.
  • This position is employed by Mosaic Health System.
Duties
  • Accurately performs and reports laboratory testing in timely manner according to laws and regulations.
  • Properly identifies patients, without exception, prior to specimen collection.
  • Properly collects (phlebotomy), labels, processes and preserves specimens in a timely manner.
  • Orders necessary supplies or notifies the person responsible for ordering them.
  • Operates equipment appropriately.
  • Performs routine office duties such as customer service, answering the phone, stocking, cleaning, copying, faxing, coding, order entry, charges, reports, and filing.
  • Takes responsibility for departmental coverage coordinating with other technologists/ technicians.
  • Notifies the laboratory manager or lead of any issues/complaints that may arise from customers or patients.
  • Supports regulatory functions for CLIA certification, RHC, and JCAHO; including annual competency training.
  • Performs all duties according to entity policies and procedures.
  • Transports patient samples to the hospital laboratory for analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • All required education is a minimum requirement. Higher levels of education are acceptable. High School Diploma or GED required.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support and Non-violent CPI Certification within 90 days of hire is required. Certification by approved accredited phlebotomy course preferred.
