Toronto, Ontario, Canada (On-Site)
The Lab Support Technician works under the supervision of the Manager to install, build, and assemble in-house Lab Equipment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Correct handling of electrostatic sensitive electronics.
- Installation of add-on cards into sub-racks.
- Installation of sub-racks into 19” racks.
- Point-to-point wiring using terminal blocks.
- Perform continuity tests on cables.
- Build wiring assemblies, including crimping connectors and labeling.
- Knowledge of electronic troubleshooting – tracing of signals using test tools.
- Understanding of engineering drawings, wiring lists, bills of materials, interconnect diagrams, and schematics.
- Repairs PCs and takes backup images of OS systems on PCs.
- Troubleshoots basic electronics/network issues.
- Installs OS (Windows) on PC/Servers, drivers, and configurations.
- Operates electronics test equipment such as multi-meters and scope meters.
- Communicates and proactively coordinates with other departments to resolve simulator issues quickly.
- Presents technical issues to management in clear, complete, concise, and non-ambiguous terms.
- Provides feedback to hardware designers when required.
Key Requirements:
- Education:
- Diploma/degree in Electronics or Electrical Technology (or equivalent experience).
- Experience:
- 5 years of hands-on Electronics or Electrical experience in industries such as Ground Transportation, Aviation, Automotive, Hydro, etc.
- Skills:
- Understanding of electronic circuits and hardware connection diagrams.
- Experience using test equipment like multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Knowledge of OS installation in Windows environments.
- Skilled with power tools.
- Ability to work extra hours, weekends, and holidays, as required by business needs.
