Lawyer (Energy)

Key Responsibilities

1. Legal Advisory & Compliance

  • Provide legal advice on all aspects of energy projects, including power generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and related infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with Philippine energy laws, environmental regulations, and corporate governance standards.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in energy sector legislation, regulatory guidelines, and government policies.

2. Contract Management

  • Draft, review, and negotiate project-related agreements, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts, Operation and Maintenance (O&M) agreements, joint venture agreements, and financing documents.
  • Ensure all contracts protect the company’s interests while aligning with commercial and operational objectives.

3. Project Support & Business Development

  • Support due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures in the energy sector.
  • Advise business development teams on project feasibility, risk allocation, and deal structuring.
  • Collaborate with technical, finance, and operations teams to ensure project viability and compliance.

4. Regulatory & Government Liaison

  • Represent the company before regulatory bodies such as the Department of Energy (DOE), Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), and other government agencies.
  • Coordinate permitting, licensing, and compliance requirements for energy projects.

5. Risk Management

  • Identify legal and regulatory risks in energy transactions and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Manage dispute resolution processes, including mediation, arbitration, or litigation, when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • RA 1080
  • At least 10 years’ experience in corporate law, with a strong focus on the energy sector, infrastructure projects, or commercial transactions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong research and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to work on-site

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Php90,000.00 - Php110,000.00 per month
