As Lead Technical Health & Safety Engineer, you will provide senior technical leadership across process safety, loss prevention, and fire protection engineering, ensuring safe, compliant, and high‑performing project delivery.
You will:
- Lead and deliver process and technical safety scope across all project phases (Concept, Pre‑FEED, FEED, EPC/EPCM), ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance
- Provide technical authority and governance for process safety, loss prevention, and fire protection design
- Manage, mentor, and develop the Process Safety & Loss Prevention team, ensuring capability, resourcing, and knowledge growth
- Drive risk‑based safety engineering, integrating safety by design into layout, systems, and operations
- Ensure alignment with client, company, and international safety standards, codes, and legislative requirements
- Contribute to proposals, estimates, and bid strategies from a technical safety perspective
- Champion continuous improvement by staying abreast of industry advances, standards, and best practice
Technical Scope Includes:
- Leadership and participation in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, QRA, FERA, PCS, and Facility Siting Studies
- Design and review of firewater systems, fire & gas detection, firefighting, foam, clean agent, and passive fire protection systems
- Development and review of PFDs, P&IDs, plot plans, 3D models, Basis of Design, and safety documentation
- Consequence modelling (thermal radiation, gas dispersion, explosion/blast)
- Firewater network and hydraulic analysis using industry‑standard tools (e.g., Pipenet)
- Technical assurance reviews of area classification drawings, layouts, and safety‑critical systems
To succeed in this role, you will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership capability, and a passion for engineering safety excellence.
You will have:
- 6-12+ years’ experience in Process / Technical Safety or Fire Protection Engineering within oil & gas, LNG, chemical, refinery, renewable, or emerging energy sectors
- Proven experience delivering safety engineering across Concept, Pre‑FEED, FEED, and EPC/EPCM projects (greenfield and brownfield)
- Strong hands‑on expertise in:
- Process safety studies (HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, QRA, PCS, Safety Case)
- Firewater, fire & gas, firefighting, and passive fire protection system design
- Hydraulic calculations, consequence modelling, and safety system sizing
- Proficiency in developing and reviewing PFDs, P&IDs, data sheets, calculations, and technical reports
- Solid working knowledge of international codes, standards, client specifications, and local regulatory requirements
- Experience defining scopes of work and reviewing outputs from third‑party safety studies
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence clients, partners, and multidisciplinary teams
