The Lubricants, Paints and Chemicals procurement category (LUPAC) is at the heart of this change and pioneering industry-leading initiatives to save fuel and improve vessel reliability. We seek a driven and ambitious intern to join our world-class technical team in Singapore to assist in running some of the groundbreaking projects that are changing our industry.

What We Offer

The successful candidate will join the technical arm of the LUPAC team alongside our experienced tribology, chemistry and engineering experts, to expediate the progress of various initiatives the team is running. This role will involve communication and coordination across different teams and locations within the organisation, and effective stakeholder relationship management will be key. The role will include interaction with our vessel crew as well as shore staff, and balancing of priorities across different teams in the business.

The successful candidate will benefit from close mentorship from our team of industry experts as well as the opportunity to self-lead their own assigned tasks. You will also benefit from direct interaction with stakeholders across the global business, and first-hand insights into how supply chain, technical and operational business is conducted in one of the world’s largest shipping companies

Key Responsibilities

  • Project management, planning and co-ordination of engineering/lubrication initiatives aimed at improving vessel efficiency and reliability.

  • Data analysis of key project information and production of meaningful data summaries for alignment of internal decision-makers.

  • Co-ordination and self-management of collaboration with laboratories, machinery experts and vessel crew.

  • Support the development and implementation of best-in-class category management strategies designed to support stakeholder needs and business requirements.

  • Support the development of processes, tools, and standards designed to improve reliability and ensure greater levels of consistency and simplification across the business

We are looking for

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about taking on new challenges and has the willpower, curiosity, and determination to impact the business.

  • Education and experience in engineering, lube oil chemistry/application/analysis or maritime businesses would be strongly preferred

  • Experienced in project management, including planning, timely tracking and execution of actions, coordination with ship crews and key stakeholders, and making recommendations to management based on project outcomes

  • Proficient in collecting, analysing, and interpreting data to derive actionable insights and support informed decision-making.

  • Grounded, practical self-starter with a focus on achieving the most cost-efficient solutions to the business

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Able to collaborate effectively, resolve conflicts, and foster productive partnerships with suppliers, colleagues, and cross-functional teams

  • Problem-solving abilities, both technical and commercial in nature.

  • Must be detail-oriented and able to dig into complex problems to thoroughly identify the suitable solutions.

  • Equipped with an open mindset ready to challenge the status quo and find creative solutions in a complex environment

  • Ready to learn new and complex subjects and become self-sufficient in a short space of time.

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
