M&A & Strategy Intern - Ceo Office

WE’RE HIRING

CEO Office — M&A & Strategy Intern

Part-time internship during studies · Stockholm (hybrid) · Start: Flexible

The Short Version

PubliX Group is a PE-backed Nordic software platform acquiring vertical market software companies that serve the public sector. We own five companies across Sweden and Finland, with close to SEK 100M in revenue, 94% gross margins, and over 20 active acquisition dialogues across multiple countries. We’re one year old, moving fast, and building something that doesn’t exist yet in European public sector tech.

We’re looking for one exceptional student to join the CEO Office part-time and work on things that actually matter — not coffee runs and slide formatting, but real M&A analysis, market intelligence, and strategy work that goes directly to our board and PE sponsor.

We Take AI Dead Seriously

PubliX has deep AI expertise and we use it every day — not as a buzzword, but as a core capability that accelerates everything from M&A sourcing and target screening to portfolio strategy and board preparation. We believe AI is reshaping how investment platforms operate, and we intend to be at the frontier. We also work with our portfolio companies on cutting edge AI initiatives in Engineering, Product, Sales, Marketing, Operations and Finance.

For the right person, this role offers an unmatched learning curve in applied AI for CEO, board, and M&A matters. What would take you a year you will learn in a week.

You’ll have access to world-class technology and work alongside people who know how to use it. What we need from you is the curiosity and drive to make the most of it.

Why This Isn’t a Normal Student Job

At most companies, students observe. Here, you execute. PubliX is a small, focused team at the holding level running a multi-country buy-and-build. That means there are no layers between you and the decisions. Your analysis goes to the board. Your work shapes which companies we pursue and where we expand next.

You’ll report to the CEO on strategy and to the Head of M&A on pipeline work. The culture is demanding but fun — built on mutual respect, high performance expectations, and a genuine belief that the best work happens when smart people are given real responsibility and the tools to deliver.

What You’ll Actually Do

M&A Pipeline & Target Analysis

  • Support the screening and analysis of acquisition targets across the Nordics, UK, and DACH
  • Produce structured target assessments that feed directly into board investment decisions
  • Work with AI and modern technology to accelerate M&A sourcing, due diligence, and competitive analysis
  • Help maintain and develop our active pipeline of 20+ acquisition dialogues

Market Intelligence & Analytics

  • Map vendor landscapes across geographies to identify and prioritise acquisition opportunities
  • Analyse market dynamics — TAM sizing, demographic shifts, regulatory tailwinds, competitive intensity
  • Use data-driven approaches to turn fragmented market information into actionable strategic insight

CEO Strategy & Execution Support

  • Support preparation of board materials, investor narratives, and strategy documents
  • Contribute to geographic expansion analysis: which countries to enter, in what order, with what model
  • Help build internal capabilities that accelerate growth across the portfolio
  • Work on strategic questions around AI resilience, vertical software moats, and public sector digitisation

Who You Are

We’re looking for a highly motivated, highly intelligent individual who is a strategic thinker, a team player, and someone who loves to learn new things. Specifically:

  • 3rd-year or Master’s student at KTH Industrial Engineering and Management (or equivalent programme at SSE, Chalmers, or LTH with a strong quantitative and strategic profile)
  • Genuinely interested in software, SaaS business models, and what makes technology companies valuable — not just “interested in finance”
  • Comfortable working with messy, real-world data and turning it into structured, opinionated analysis
  • The kind of person who writes “this target is a pass because...”, not “here are some pros and cons”
  • Fluent in English (all our work product is in English). Swedish is a plus but not required
  • Available 15–20 hours per week with flexibility around exam periods

Bonus skills (Not Required)

  • Experience with AI tools for research and analysis
  • Prior exposure to M&A, PE, or management consulting (internship, case competitions, student associations)
  • Interest in or knowledge of the Nordic public sector — how municipalities work, how procurement works, how policy drives IT investment

What You Get

Real responsibility

Your work goes to the board and shapes investment decisions. This is not a training programme — it’s a real job with real impact.

Unmatched AI learning curve

Access to world-class AI technology applied to CEO, board, and M&A matters. You’ll learn how AI actually transforms strategy work — not in theory, but in practice.

Mentorship

Direct access to a CEO with a background in strategy, tech, and PE, and a Head of M&A running live deal processes across multiple countries.

Network

Exposure to our PE sponsor (Aspira Partners), board members from leading Nordic tech companies, and the founder-CEOs of our portfolio companies.

Culture

Demanding but fun. High performance expectations paired with genuine respect, trust, and the freedom to do your best work.

Flexibility

Hybrid setup. Work from our Stockholm office or remotely. We care about output, not hours logged.

Compensation

Hourly compensation. Let’s talk.
