Te Wānanga o Aotearoa is looking for a visionary Manager – Audit and Risk to lead a critical function that safeguards our integrity and strengthens trust across the organisation.
In this role, you’ll:
- Shape and deliver our audit and risk strategy, ensuring alignment with Te Pae Tawhiti 2030 is (TWoA Strategic Plan 2030).
- Lead the internal audit programme and provide assurance that drives continuous improvement.
- Oversee enterprise-wide risk management frameworks and governance reporting.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and governance committees on complex risk and compliance matters.
- Build organisational capability and foster a culture of excellence in audit and risk management.

Mōu | About you
You’re an experienced audit and risk leader who thrives on complexity and collaboration. You bring:
- A Master’s degree in auditing, risk management, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in internal audit, risk advisory, or assurance roles.
- Strong knowledge of public sector compliance, assurance frameworks, and risk standards
- Professional certification such as CIA, CA, CPA (preferred) and membership of CAANZ.
- Proven ability to deliver audit and risk reporting for governance committees.
- Experience working in kaupapa Māori environments or a strong understanding of tikanga Māori.
You’ll also have exceptional leadership and communication skills, strategic thinking, and a commitment to continuous improvement. If you can inspire others, build capability, and lead with integrity, we want you on our team.
