Medical Assistant/Bht

Job Summary:


The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for providing routine receptionist, secretarial, and clerical services depending upon the area they are assigned. They work in concert with all program personnel and play an essential role in communication within Cornerstone?s programs/services.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for daily office activities and tasks which provide optimal office maintenance and operation.
  • Initiates and responds to all appropriate correspondence.
  • Answers phone or ensures adequate coverage during normal business hours.
  • Makes appointments for outside services/consults as required.
  • Receives and distributes mail daily.
  • Types, files, photocopies, and faxes and assists in the purchase of business supplies when necessary.
  • Informs maintenance of any needed repairs.
  • Ensures that all office equipment, books, charts, and extra supplies are kept in their proper places on a continuous basis.
  • Tags client articles left on discharge; places in cabinet in garage; notifies client and if not picked up in 30 days, notifies Director of Operations.
  • Types letters according to specific client needs (i.e. verification of recovery) when requested to do so.
  • Assists in maintenance of proper chart order, condition, and completeness.
  • Assures that all written consents are properly completed and signed by the client and witnesses the signature when appropriate.
  • Assists in the intake process by conducting assessments and gathering information; ensures that the admission papers are completed and signed prior to becoming a part of the client record.
  • Assists Admissions Office Coordinator in all other related office duties upon request.

  • Plays an essential role in the assurance of in-house communication.
  • Screens telephone calls, takes messages, and gives information to appropriate person.
  • Screens visitors for appropriateness at Cornerstone. Utilizes the client confidentiality requirements as criteria.
  • Ensures that the Visitor Confidentiality Form is appropriately signed.
  • Communicates with the Admissions Office Coordinator regarding the release of information and photocopying of client records.
  • Distributes significant correspondence and verbal messages daily to the appropriate staff member.
  • Assists in keeping the calendar of events and census up-to-date in an orderly manner.
  • Assists in orienting new employees to basic office procedures.
  • Monitors blood pressure and/or pain management utilizing Performance Improvement Monitors.

  • Medication Observation
