JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Night Shift Manager

Reporting to: Depot Manager

Job Summary. As the Night Shift Manager, you will oversee and coordinate the loading operations during the night shift to ensure efficient and timely loading of goods onto rigid and artic trucks or other transportation vehicles. You will be responsible for managing a team of loaders, scheduling, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and loading procedures. The role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

General duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with health and safety, and internal standard operating procedures are followed within the warehouse.
• Warehouse walk through to include pallet/bay checks.
• Scanning to be completed and a follow up on any reporting and discrepancy checks.
• Ensuring that all standard procedures are followed.
• Lead and supervise a team the during the night shift.
• Coordinate loading activities to ensure smooth operations and timely departure of rigid and artic trucks.
• Assign tasks and responsibilities to loaders based on workload and priorities.
• Monitor performance and provide guidance and support as needed to optimise efficiency.
• Ensure proper handling and secure loading of goods to prevent damage during transportation.
• Verify accuracy of loaded goods against shipping documents and resolve any discrepancies.
• Communicate effectively with other departments, such as warehouse, transportation, and logistics teams, to coordinate loading activities and address any issues or concerns.
• Collaborate with supervisors from other shifts to ensure continuity of operations and smooth handovers.
• Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance loading efficiency and quality.
• Maintain accurate records of loading activities, including quantities loaded, departure times, and any incidents or delays.
• Prepare daily reports summarising loading activities, productivity, and any notable occurrences.
• Assist with inventory management tasks, such as stocktaking and reconciliation, as needed.
• Ability to delegate tasks while prioritising deadlines.
• Any other duties required by the business.

Skills & Competencies

• Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably in a warehouse or logistics environment.
• Excellent organisational and time management abilities, with a keen attention to detail. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to loading operations.
• Experience operating forklift and manual handling equipment.
• Physical fitness and strength for warehouse duties, including loading/unloading.

Qualifications & Experience

• Must have a minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in a warehousing/transportation environment.
• Experience with Rigid and Artic trucks is essential for this role. • Strong IT systems knowledge and skills

• Valid Forklift Licence
• Valid Manual Handling
