Outside Sales Representative

GW Murphy is a rapidly expanding family-owned distributor and retailer of roofing materials and building supplies. We have proudly served the industry for over 40 years and have current locations in Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi. Throughout the years we have gained the reputation as experts in the roofing industry while providing the highest level of customer service to our loyal customers. We supply our customers with a wide variety of residential roofing products, commercial roofing products and accessories providing a One-Stop shop experience to contractors. GW Murphy prides itself on building personal relationships that translate to true business partnerships.

What you will do:

  • Build relationships with contractors and grow market share in the assigned territory.
  • Actively seek contractors within the assigned territory to discover needs, provide solutions, and exceed the customers’ expectations.
  • Market exterior building products including roofing, siding, windows and waterproofing materials to contractors across the assigned territory.
  • Prospect daily and facilitate new customer acquisition by presenting and selling our extensive line of products.
  • Develop business partnerships with customers and vendors.
  • Communicate with branch operations to deliver a seamless customer experience.
  • Utilize CRM tools to communicate sales activity with customers and management.
  • Rapidly expand product knowledge with the assistance of the Director of Sales and Marketing.
  • Engage in weekly oneonone meetings with the Director of Sales and Marketing to facilitate revenue growth.
  • Create personal networks and engage in professional societies to enhance buyer network.
  • Meet or exceed set quota objectives.
  • Win business.

Who are you?

  • You like to win.
  • You have a proven track record in outside sales.
  • You’re familiar with construction and building materials.
  • You should have a minimum of 3 years with exterior building materials.
  • You possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • You’re fluent in Spanish and English (preferred)
  • You have a strong desire to find creative solutions.
  • You are a “people person” by nature and have a knack for making friends quickly.
  • You possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • You are comfortable and proficient with technology and software systems.
  • You have the ability to work independently.
  • You enjoy sales and are comfortable in a competitive environment.
