Job Overview
Join us as a Paid Summer Intern and ignite your passion for education, childcare, and youth development! This dynamic internship offers hands-on experience working directly with children and adolescents with disabilities in a vibrant, supportive environment. You will be trained as a registered behavior technician in strategies to support children with autism and other developmental disabilities. This paid opportunity is perfect for motivated individuals eager to make a positive impact during the summer months while exploring careers in ABA, speech, occupational therapy, or special education!

Position Overview

The Behavior Technician works directly with children to support positive behavior, social skills, and developmental goals. This role involves implementing behavior intervention strategies, collecting data, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure each child receives individualized support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized behavior intervention plans under supervision
  • Work one-on-one and in small groups with children to build social, communication, and adaptive skills
  • Collect and record accurate data on behavior and progress
  • Support children in daily routines, transitions, and classroom activities
  • Use positive reinforcement and evidence-based strategies to encourage appropriate behaviors
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistency in care
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for all children
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or related field preferred
  • Experience working with children (especially those with developmental or behavioral needs) preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children
  • Ability to follow structured plans and adapt to changing needs
  • Willingness to complete required training (e.g., RBT certification, if applicable)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to actively engage with children (sitting, standing, bending, lifting up to [X] lbs)
  • Ability to respond quickly in a variety of situations to ensure child safety
