Ace Painting Limited is a growing painting company based in Canterbury. We provide a range of services including interior and exterior house painting, roof painting, deck staining, interior plastering, water blasting, and airless spraying. We are looking for an experienced and reliable Painter to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Job details

This is a permanent full-time role with a minimum guaranteed 30 hours of work per week.
Work is usually from Monday to Friday, with optional overtime available and paid at the normal hourly rate. The pay rate is $28.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Where travel is required for work projects, the company will pay an additional $50.00 per day as a food allowance, plus an extra $5.00 per hour on top of the base hourly rate.

Key duties and responsibilities

You will be responsible for carrying out a range of painting and surface preparation tasks, including:

• Preparing surfaces by removing old paint, wallpaper, dirt, and dust
• Filling holes, cracks, and joins to create smooth surfaces
• Applying paint, stains, varnishes, and other finishes using appropriate tools and equipment
• Mixing and matching paint colours to achieve the required finish
• Carrying out decorative finishes such as glazing, graining, marbling, and lettering where required
• Hanging wallpaper, vinyl, and backing paper
• Calculating materials required for each job
• Erecting scaffolding and using ladders safely when needed
• Placing drop sheets, cleaning equipment, and maintaining tidy work areas
• Working with team members and clients on colour selection and finishes
• Following all company health and safety procedures at all times

Skills, experience, and qualifications required

To be considered for this role, applicants must have either:

• a relevant Level 4 qualification, or at least 2 years of relevant work experience as a Painte
• The successful applicant must also be physically fit and capable of carrying out manual work
• be reliable, motivated, and able to work well in a team
• have good attention to detail and take pride in quality workmanship
• be willing to travel for work when required
• be able to comply with workplace health and safety requirements
• A pre-employment drug test may be required.
