Paralegal Officer

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal terminology, research methods, and procedural law. The Paralegal will assist attorneys with preparing for hearings, trials, and meetings, conducting legal research, drafting documents, and ensuring that all legal matters are organized and handled in a timely and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Research:
  • Conduct thorough legal research using various databases and resources to gather relevant information and case law to support attorneys' work.
  • Document Drafting & Preparation:

Draft, review, and proofread legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, discovery documents, and correspondence. Ensure all documents comply with legal standards and formatting.

  • Case Management:

Assist attorneys in managing case files, ensuring all documents, evidence, and legal correspondence are properly filed and organized. Track case progress, deadlines, and court dates.Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in a case. Relay important updates, collect information, and schedule meetings or appointments as needed.File legal documents with courts or government agencies, ensuring compliance with relevant procedures and deadlines. Attend court hearings and trials with the attorney as necessary.Assist in the preparation and response to discovery requests, including the collection, organization, and review of documents and evidence. Coordinate depositions and witness interviews.Prepare exhibits, trial binders, and other materials for hearings or trials. Organize case files and evidence for easy access during trial proceedings.Perform administrative duties such as scheduling meetings, maintaining attorney calendars, handling phone calls, and managing correspondence.Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines. Maintain confidentiality of client and case information at all times.Skills & Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in paralegal studies is preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant.
  • Experience in [specific practice areas, e.g., family law, corporate law, litigation, etc.] is preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.
  • Proficient in legal research tools and databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal management software.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge:
  • Familiarity with court filing systems, including electronic filing procedures.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data privacy regulations in legal practice.
  • Ability to interpret laws, regulations, and legal precedents.
