Who We Are
The Texas A&M University Cyclo tron Institute, a Department of Energy University Facility, is jointly supported by DOE and the State of Texas and is a major technical and educational resource for the state and the nation. At the Institute, we focus on conducting basic research, educating students in accelerator-based science and technology, and providing technical capabilities for a wide variety of applications in space science, materials science, analytical procedures and nuclear medicine. Approximately 100 Institute members – scientists, engineers, technicians, support staff, graduate students and undergraduate students – are involved in these programs. What We Want
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be performing state-of-the-art experiments, analyzing results, publishing research papers, and making presentations. The selected candidate is also expected to help the PI with graduate students.
What You Need to Know
Salary : Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience.
Special Note: This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance.
Required Education and Experience:
Appropriate PhD
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in experimental nuclear physics
Advanced knowledge of experimental methods in nuclear physics, nuclear astrophysics, and nuclear reactions
Experience in the analysis of experimental data in low-energy nuclear physics
Experience with active target time projection chambers and General Electronics for TPCs
Responsibilities
Research : Performs state-of-the-art experiments. Analyzes data results. Assists the PI with graduate students.
Publication and Presentations : Publishes research papers and makes presentations.
Other Duties : Performs other duties as assigned.
