Responsibilities
- Lead airport master planning, feasibility studies, and phased development strategies for complex hub airport programmes.
- Provide strategic direction across airspace, airside, terminal, and landside systems, ensuring integrated airport operational performance and validating design objectives.
- Act as technical lead for airport transaction advisory, supporting concessions, PPPs, and investment cases through feasibility, capacity, and risk analysis when required by clients.
- Lead the development of business cases, economic appraisals, and investment-grade outcomes for airport and aviation projects.
- Apply transport demand modelling, GIS, and simulation tools to assess capacity, operational resilience, and “what-if” operational scenarios.
- Establish and govern the use of planning, simulation, and spatial analytics tools, integrating airport design with urban development, land transport strategies, and regional mobility strategies.
- Develop and enhance SJ’s aviation planning and simulation methodologies to strengthen technical excellence and market differentiation in the aviation sector.
- Ensure alignment with ICAO, FAA, EASA, and relevant national aviation authority requirements.
- Serve as technical authority across aviation projects, representing SJ in engagements with clients, authorities, and industry stakeholders.
- Build, mentor, and lead high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
Requirements
- Degree in Aviation, Transportation, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in aviation and airport planning, including leadership roles within consultancy or major aviation programmes.
- Strong experience in airport master planning, airside and landside planning, and airport/airspace capacity analysis.
- Proven leadership in applying advanced planning and simulation tools such as VISUM, VISSIM, CAST, AirTOP, ArcGIS, QGIS, and Cesium or equivalent platforms.
- Experience in developing data-driven planning environments, including working with large datasets, Python-based workflows, and spatial databases.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary, multicultural, and client-facing consulting environments.
- Strong strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
