Employment Type: 12 Months Contract (Full-time, site-based)

Role Overview
We are currently seeking a hands-on Contract Project Engineer to support our client’s operations at a pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Sligo. The ideal candidate will bring strong site-based engineering experience and play a key role in delivering capital projects, supporting process reliability, and driving continuous improvement in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support to maintain and optimise all site process equipment and utilities.
- Lead the delivery of capital projects (up to €5 million) in alignment with the Project Lifecycle framework.
- Support the engineering and production teams in minimising equipment downtime and improving process efficiencies.
- Deliver technical troubleshooting and process engineering support across site operations.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and operational reliability.
- Manage project execution including scope, schedule, budget, and contractor oversight.
- Lead commissioning, validation, and start-up of new equipment or systems.
- Prepare feasibility studies, CAPEX justifications, and manage project budgets.
- Liaise with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, external vendors, and contractors.
- Ensure engineering activities are aligned with process safety and cGMP standards.
- Maintain compliance through effective change control processes.
Key Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Process, Chemical).
- Proven experience within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
- Site-based experience in any of the following:
- API processing (e.g., reactors, filter dryers, gloveboxes, downflow booths).
- Drug Product equipment (e.g., tablet presses, blenders, roller compactors).
- Cleanroom utilities (e.g., HVAC, CIP, PW systems).
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Batch processing, automation, commissioning, and validation.
- Equipment troubleshooting and reliability engineering.
- Managing projects under GMP/regulated conditions.
- Familiarity with DCS platforms such as Delta V.
- Strong understanding of cGMP, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Experience with Trackwise change control systems.
- Electrical engineering background with exposure to:
- Electrical system design and installation.
- ATEX regulations and hazardous area compliance.
