Position Summary
The Project Manager is a leader, operator, and problem‑solver responsible for delivering construction projects with precision, profitability, and professionalism. This role owns the entire lifecycle of a project—from pre‑construction handoff through final closeout—ensuring alignment across field operations, financial performance, client expectations, and company standards.
This is not a task manager role. This is a business operator role responsible for driving project profitability, leading teams, managing risk, owning client relationships, and executing at a high level—every time.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Ownership & Execution
· Take full ownership of assigned projects from turnover through closeout.
· Develop a deep understanding of the scope, drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
· Establish clear execution plans and ensure alignment across all stakeholders.
· Identify risks early and drive proactive solutions.
· Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and at Shepperd quality standards.
Financial Management & Profitability
· Build and maintain accurate project budgets and forecasts.
· Manage buyout process and subcontractor commitments.
· Track job costs, productivity, and margin performance in real time.
· Identify cost risks and implement corrective actions early.
· Manage Schedule of Values (SOV), Pay Applications (AIA billing), and Change Orders (OCO/SCO).
· Ensure financial alignment between field execution and cost tracking.
· Directly responsible for protecting and improving project margin.
Scheduling & Production Management
· Develop, maintain, and actively manage project schedules with a critical path focus.
· Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
· Ensure sequencing aligns with efficiency and production goals.
· Anticipate delays and adjust plans proactively.
· Hold teams accountable to production targets.
Team Leadership & Accountability
· Lead and develop Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, and Project Coordinators.
· Create clarity in expectations and accountability across the team.
· Drive alignment between field and office operations.
· Foster a high‑performance culture built on ownership and execution.
Quality Control & Safety Leadership
· Enforce Shepperd Construction quality standards across all projects.
· Ensure all work meets plans, specifications, and client expectations.
· Partner with field leadership to maintain clean, organized jobsites and safe work environments.
· Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety protocols.
Client & Relationship Management
· Serve as the primary point of contact for clients.
· Build strong, trust‑based relationships.
· Communicate clearly and proactively on schedule, budget, risks, and changes.
· Ensure high client satisfaction and repeat business.
Risk Management & Problem Solving
· Identify potential project risks early—scope gaps, design issues, trade coordination conflicts, budget overruns.
· Develop and execute mitigation strategies.
· Solve problems quickly and effectively without escalation when possible.
Preconstruction & Turnover Integration
· Support estimating and preconstruction teams as needed.
· Ensure clean handoff from estimating to operations.
· Validate scope coverage and subcontractor alignment.
· Assist in developing execution strategies for complex projects.
Systems, Process & SOP Implementation
· Support rollout and adoption of project management software (Autodesk, etc.) and SOP library/workflows.
· Ensure consistent use of systems across all projects.
· Identify inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement.
Business Development Support
· Represent Shepperd Construction in a professional and confident manner.
· Support pursuit of new work through client relationships and performance reputation.
· Help secure repeat business through execution excellence.

QualificationsRequired
· 5–10+ years of experience in construction project management.
· Experience in commercial and/or multifamily construction.
· Strong knowledge of construction documents, cost control, and budgeting, scheduling, and trade coordination.
· Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Strong leadership and communication skills.
Preferred
· Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar platforms.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field.
· Experience in exterior envelope or reconstruction work.
· Experience scaling operations or implementing systems.

Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
