This is an exciting time for you to join our Thames Hospital and Community team leading the Quality, Safety and Audit activity. This is a new role for Thames Hospital and is an opportunity to develop and implement quality and safety activities as well as leading audits across the services.

About the Role

The primary purpose of the role is to:

  • Support Thames Hospital and Community clinical staff in all aspects of quality, patient safety and audits to ensure quality and safety activities, audit actions and compliance are maintained across all Thames services.
  • Responsible for health and safety meetings and associated activities including supporting the health and safety representatives.
  • Build audit tools and registers and maintain a schedule of regular and mandatory audits.
  • Develop action plans in conjunction with clinical leadership to address identified audit deficits

About the Team/Service

The rural hospital and community services team includes Thames Hospital and Community, Tokoroa Hospital, Te Kuiti Hospital, Taumaranui Hospital and Community service staff in Hamilton. The Quality, Safety and Audit coordinator will work collaboratively with the other Quality, Safety and Audit co-ordinators in the Southern Rural hospitals to ensure continuous quality improvement. This role reports to the Operations Manager - Thames Hospital and Community and is part of the wider non-clinical team.

The Rural and Community Directorate understands that communities have their own solutions and unique requirements to meet their health needs. We understand the complexities of rural disparities and geographic challenges and the impact of this on health access.

About you

To be successful in this role it is essential that you can demonstrate the following:

  • A relevant background in clinical patient care.
  • 5-7 years experience in audit, quality and patient safety activities in a complex health related environment.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including the capacity to negotiate, resolve conflict and positively influence others.
