The Last Word and Bluewave Law are two growing and dynamic law firms (specializing in Wills and Estates; and Immigration and Employment law respectively). Both firms work in the same operating environment operating in one office.

We are moving to a newer office space in This is a small, but dynamic and forward-thinking law firm that specializes in Wills & Estates. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented paralegal, with experience in Wills & Estates Law, to join our team. Job Summary:

The Senior Paralegal will provide essential support to the legal team by assisting with client interactions, and drafting and editing of wills, trusts, probate, and other matters related to estate planning and estate administration. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, experience in wills & estates law, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, empathy in dealing with clients during sensitive times, and the ability to manage complex administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

Estate Planning

  • Assist in the preparation and execution of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant laws and regulations related to wills, estates, and probate proceedings.
  • Manage the organization and maintenance of estate planning documents, client files, and databases.
  • Assist attorneys in communicating with clients, trust companies, and financial advisors as needed.

Estate Administration

  • Prepare and file necessary documents for probate and estate administration, including court filings and notices.
  • Assist attorneys in communicating with clients, beneficiaries, and opposing counsel as needed.
  • Collaborate with financial institutions, insurance companies, and other third parties on matters related to estate administration.
  • Assist in estate administration tasks, including contact with various service providers, the calculation of estate assets, and communication with various parties.

General

  • Conduct legal research to support attorneys in analyzing legal issues and precedents.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal presentations, reports, and correspondence.
  • Manage and organize legal files, documents, and databases to ensure easy retrieval and accessibility.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including answering phone call inquiries, scheduling meetings, maintaining attorney calendars, and managing correspondence.
  • Continuing to develop existing processes to streamline, increase efficiency and accuracy, and better the client experience.
  • Other administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

The right candidate is one with the right combination of experience, training, and desire and ability to learn and expand their skillset. The following are assets to any applicant:

  • Experience with Wills & Estates Law (ideally 5+ years of experience).
  • Experience as a paralegal.
  • Proficiency in legal research, document drafting, and transactional documentation.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented approach with high accuracy in document preparation and record-keeping.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with colleagues and clients.
  • Proficiency in using legal research tools, document management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency with various practice management systems, specifically Clio Grow and Clio Manage.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $45,000.00 per year
