Schedule: Wednesday 5:00pm-8:00am, Saturdays & Sundays (8:00am-8:00pm)
Incentive: $4.00 per hour on-call shift differential pay, in addition to base pay
Position Summary:
The After-Hours Hospice RN delivers compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals receiving comprehensive health care services. This critical role ensures continuity of care by responding to patient needs, managing symptoms, providing emotional support, and offering clinical guidance to patients and families outside of regular business hours. The After-Hours Hospice RN will work independently in their home setting and will perform on-site visits to the Hospice patient’s home care setting or wherever the patient calls home when needed. Home care settings may consist of a private residence, skilled nursing facility, personal care home, and/or other interim living arrangements. A Registered Nurse in this position will have strong communication skills, the competence to work autonomously, professionalism to work within an interdisciplinary team, and the ability to provide care with empathy. Requirements:
- A graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse through the Kentucky Board of Nursing or participating COMPACT state Board of Nursing.
- One year of general nursing experience is preferred. New nursing graduates will be considered.
- Skilled in nursing practice and able to maintain professionalism in moments of emotional stress.
- Provide care in a compassionate nature while serving a diverse population respectfully and professionally.
- Complies with accepted professional and ethical standards and principles.
- Understands and supports the hospice philosophy and principles of death and dying.
- Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
- Have satisfactory references from nursing schools, previous (or current) employers and/or professional peers.
- Have excellent observation, good nursing judgment and communication skills. Ability to provide accurate and timely documentation.
- Self-directed to work with minimal supervision and within an interdisciplinary team.
- Flexible and cooperative in fulfilling role obligation to meet the needs of patients and BCN.
- Team members will be expected to comply with Bluegrass Care Navigators (BCN) Employee Health, infectious disease, and vaccination policies.
- Must be a licensed driver with an automobile in good working order, that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements, with personal auto liability insurance of $100,000/$300,000 in bodily injury coverage.
