Overview: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

A temporary, medical student internship is available in the Fredricks Lab within the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division. The Fredricks Lab focuses on studies of infections in the immunocompromised host. Responsibilities: The student will participate in a study of fungal infections in hematopoietic cell transplant recipients and will also assist with variety of tasks as outlined below:

• 
  Collect and analyze data from patient charts
• Maintain a high level of accuracy for all work
• Work well as team-member
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Assist with data analysis, creation of reports, writing of manuscript.

Qualifications:

• Must have Bachelor’s degree and entering second year in medical school.
• Must be accurate, self-motivated, dependable and willing to learn.
• Interest in infectious diseases with a focus on epidemiology of fungal infections.

This position is patient facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutch clinical facilities. As such, full COVID-19 vaccination is required as a condition of employment, without exception. Booster doses are strongly recommended but not required. If declining a booster, completion of the COVID-19 Vaccination Status Form Questionnaire and COVID-19 Booster Declination Training is required. Because of our immunocompromised patient population, there are no medical or religious accommodations available for any employee who is patient facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutch clinical facilities. The hourly pay range for this position is from $18.75 to $24.71 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
