The Residential Plumbing Project Manager oversees the end-to-end delivery of residential plumbing projects, from initial planning through final completion. This role is responsible for coordinating multiple projects, leading a team of 10–12 plumbers, and ensuring all work is delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards. The position requires strong communication with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management
- Plan, schedule, and manage multiple residential plumbing projects concurrently
- Develop detailed project schedules, work plans, and labour assignments
- Track project progress and adjust timelines, staffing, or resources as required
- Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, supervise, and support a team of 10–12 plumbers
- Allocate daily tasks and ensure crews operate efficiently and productively
- Provide on-site technical support, guidance, and problem-solving as needed
- Conduct regular performance reviews and support training and skill development
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all plumbing work meets company standards, building codes, and local regulations
- Enforce health and safety policies across all job sites
- Perform site inspections and quality checks throughout project lifecycles
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Act as the main point of contact for homeowners, builders, and contractors
- Provide regular updates on project progress, timelines, and challenges
- Address client concerns promptly and resolve issues professionally
Budget & Materials Management
- Monitor labour hours, material usage, and overall project costs
- Coordinate the ordering and timely delivery of materials and equipment
- Control costs and reduce waste while maintaining high-quality standards
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate project records, schedules, and reports
- Report on project progress, risks, and outcomes to senior management
- Ensure all permits, inspections, and final approvals are completed
Required Skills & ExperienceExperience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in residential plumbing
- At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or project management role
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple crews or teams
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of residential plumbing systems and installations
- Knowledge of building regulations, safety standards, and inspection processes
- Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and technical specifications
Leadership & Communication
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong conflict-resolution skills with the ability to motivate teams
Organisational Skills
- Strong planning, scheduling, and time-management abilities
- Confidence in managing budgets, timelines, and competing priorities
Qualifications
- Licensed plumber (preferred)
- Project management certification (advantageous but not required)
- Valid driver’s licence
Working Conditions
- Mix of office-based planning and on-site supervision
- Regular travel to residential job sites
- Occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines
