Restaurant General Manager

Position:

  • Work a variable, non-standard work schedule based on business needs and/or at the request of the owner(s) or General Manager
  • Full-Time Hours, 40 Hours per Week, wage dependant on experience.
  • Consistent presence in the restaurant to support staff as the main point of contact representing the business.
  • Instances where “on call” is required or extended hours to meet business needs.
  • Other related duties as directed by the owner(s) and/or General Manager, ie. reports, remittances, etc.
  • Working shifts as a server or assisting in the kitchen, carrying out all the duties outlined in the Union House Employee shift duties document.

Staff Scheduling:

  • Prepare shift schedules, based on business needs and budgeted labour costs.
  • Maintain schedules during requests for vacation, sick days etc. ensuring they are recorded according to policy
  • Monitor scheduling ensuring staff adhere to policy regarding shift changes, leaving early etc. Consult with the General Manager regarding any issues that may arise in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that there is proper staffing to fulfill business needs. Interviewing and hiring, with assistance from General Manager, to fill any gaps as needed.

Bar Management:

  • Ensure staff are completing duties as outlined in directives, and policies, providing guidance and correction where warranted. Monitor and consult with the General Manager for any issues in a timely manner.
  • Execute with the General Manager a yearly individual evaluation, with staff as outlined by policy.
  • Ensure tap lines are cleaned as per agreed scheduling.
  • Ensure staff are properly trained and monitor progress. Mentor and monitor new employees through a probationary period.
  • Update staff on changes to policy or practices through e-mail, phone, posting on board, or if required organizing an in-person staff meeting.
  • Ensure staff adhere to Work Safe policies and enforce these HR policies as laid out by management and labour standards.
  • Ensure staff are providing a high level of service , and within approved standard, to customers i.e., TV’s, music, etc.
  • Ensure customers are provided with a fun, consistent and positive experience in line with company standards.
  • Assist the General Manager with appropriate maintenance of the POS System, maintaining up-to-date retail lists and costing.
  • In conjunction with the General Manager, develop and implement special promotions and events to promote and grow business levels.
  • Manage Union House email account for bookings, events & sponsorship requests.
  • Organize weekly or bi-weekly beer orders in conjunction with Trailway Brewery staff.
  • Manage cash on site, ensuring proper floats and deposits are done as needed.

Kitchen Management:

  • Ensure all duties of the Kitchen Lead are being completed including but not limited to
  • Staff training
  • Daily kitchen operations
  • Maintaining proper Food cost
  • Maintaining proper inventory levels
  • Enforcing Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor budgets, labour and kitchen sales goals.
  • Ensuring proper Health and Saftey Requirements
  • Assisting management in menu creation and execution

Inventory Management:

  • Maintain up-to-date inventory of all retail products, tracking trends and any anomalies.
  • Maintain inventory levels of all goods required on-site, placing orders when needed in an organized and timely manner. Regular items included but not limited to:
  • Cleaning Supplies
  • Food Supplies
  • Bar Service Supplies
  • Kitchen Service Supplies
  • Brewery Supplies where required
  • Merchandise
  • Canned Beer Inventory

Property Management

  • Troubleshoot any equipment issues as needed, following up with appropriate maintenance personnel when necessary
  • Keep management informed of any required maintenance on the building or in the AirBnbs
  • Maintaning a regular maintenance schedule on all equipment as required.
  • Assist in check in process for AirBnb units and problem-solving for guests where required.
  • Maintain cleaning schedule of AirBnbs in conjunction with management and cleaning staff. Filling in as needed.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $19.00-$24.00 per hour

  • Restaurant management: 1 year (preferred)
  • Supervising experience: 1 year (required)
  • Leadership: 1 year (required)
  • Restaurant experience: 1 year (required)
