About the Role
The role is varied and involves strong collaboration across the health services teams to fulfil the expected outcomes, including but not limited to:
- Co-ordination and scheduling of rural hospital clinics and theatre sessions with Waikato specialty teams.
- Data analysis and reporting on budgets and health target progress.
- Procurement and management of contracts.
- Medical administration related tasks including Medical staff rostering, credentialing, monitoring of leave,
- Compliance with legal, financial, statutory and Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand, Waikato requirements.
- Recruitment and onboarding support for managers and team leaders.

About the Team/Service
The rural hospital and community services team includes Thames Hospital and Community, Tokoroa Hospital, Te Kuiti Hospital, Taumaranui Hospital and Community service staff in Hamilton. The Operation Co-coordinators will hold individual portfolios but work collaboratively with each other to ensure continuous provision of services 7 days a week with an after-hours on call component. This role reports to the Waikato Rural Hospital Administration Manager and is part of the wider non-clinical team.
The Rural and Community Directorate understands that communities have their own solutions and unique requirements to meet their health needs. We understand the complexities of rural disparities and geographic challenges and the impact of this on health access.

About you
You will be responsible for displaying leadership character and driving service delivery within this role and team despite not having formal leadership accountabilities such as line management.
Essential skills:
- NCEA level 3 or equivalent.
- 3+ experience in office or project management.
- Experience within a large and complex organisation with competing priorities.
- Self-starter with strong problem solving.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organisational, administrative and time management skills.
- Developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to negotiate and positively influence and motivate others.
- Ability to assess and make effective decisions under pressure in complex situations and use own judgement to problem solve.
- Ability to coordinate multiple competing priorities.
- Understanding of how to use data to improve quality, performance and growth.
- High level and sophisticated critical thinking skills.
- Advanced technical knowledge of the entire Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in your role.
