**This is a temporary role with an expected assignment length of three months, at minimum. Team members also have the opportunity to transition into regular/ongoing employment status positions in the future.**


POSITION SUMMARY

The Sanitation Specialist reports to the Sanitation Manager and partners closely with several departments to uphold quality control of the facility and manufacturing process.


The Sanitation Specialist is responsible for keeping the compounding and the production areas clean and well-maintained, and ensuring that all compounding and production equipment should be cleaned to meet quality control standards and the safety of the plant.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Sanitation and Manufacturing Procedures

  • Follow Sanitation standard operating procedures (SOP’s) using good manufacturing practices and aseptic technique
  • Wash and sanitize the equipment for filling line and compounding
  • Clean roll-around of the mixing tanks and storage tanks, including the outside and on the top as needed, removing any visible material, dust, or chemical residues
  • Disassemble, clean, and assemble machineries
  • Complete cleaning assignments of designated equipment or areas as scheduled or directed, including:
    • Cleaning up material or product spills immediately
    • Cleaning Aesus pumps, Floor pumps and valves of the mixing tanks
    • Cleaning transfer container lids in compounding (as needed)
    • Cleaning scales and filling utensils
    • Washing and sanitize tops and insides of IBC containers when needed.
    • Washing walls and windows on a scheduled basis and sanitize walls, corners & wash station.
    • Cleaning along walls and under racks on a scheduled basis.
    • Draining and rinsing all drums that are to be recycled
    • Cleaning internal facility surfaces such as the top of rollup door cylinders, D.I. water system tanks, electrical panels, etc.
    • Mopping area daily
  • Keep wash area clean and organized, keeping hoses and pumps off ground and hanging properly, wash equipment organized properly, and eye wash station remains clear.
  • Support waste management processes throughout the facility Collect trash and recycling from aisles
    • Breakdown and recycle cardboard and other vessels
    • Dispose of empty boxes or trash
    • Take out trash and recycle as needed throughout the day, including lunch area
  • Communicate with Supervisor any equipment needs for improving sanitation of the plant
  • Perform regular quality inspections in all steps of production, and in the production lines to maintain overall product quality, and to minimize rejects; review any quality concerns with manager
  • Bring equipment problems or needs, safety concerns, or supply needs to manager’s attention.
  • Maintain and clean equipment appropriately; care must be taken to ensure foreign organisms are not introduced to finished products.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness of the outside perimeter of the building, including maintaining cleanliness of exterior employees spaces, tables, etc.

Safety, Security and Other

  • Support a safe working environment by reporting any unsafe conditions or observed, unsafe conduct
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (gloves, masks or goggles) when working with certain products as mandated by Safety Data Sheets
  • Assist with Daily Equipment checklist as requested
  • Assist with facility sanitation tasks as needed
  • Perform other tasks and projects as directed by the manager


SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks based upon a printed schedule.
  • Good observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people across all departments.
  • Ability to learn the performance of job responsibilities including use of equipment, cleaning agents and appropriate PPE usage.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Required: one year previous cleaning/sanitation OR experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Preferred: previous sanitation work experience

  • Occasional (0-33% of the workday) - 50-100 lbs
  • Frequent (34-66% of the workday) - 25-50 lbs
  • Constant (67-100% of the workday) - 10-20 lbs
  • Typical energy required - 6.4-7.5 METS


GENERAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on a production floor, in a warehouse environment, and outside of the building. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, ambient air, temperature extremes, fumes or airborne particles, traffic, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally high.
